The Nines Hotel in downtown Portland is the site of Symposium sessions on April 28 and will serve as “Symposium Central.” A block of rooms was available for Symposium participants, but that block has been filled. Some rooms at The Nines may be available at the regular hotel rate. For availability and pricing, you can call hotel directly at 877-229-9995.

About The Nines:

Attire that is business casual is appropriate for all activities on April 27 and 28. Wear shoes comfortable for walking if you’re taking the Nike tour. If you would like to bring different shoes for the reception and dinner in a small personal bag that you can carry during the tour, you will have the opportunity to check your walking shoes with coat check when you enter the reception at Nike’s Tiger Woods Center. On April 29, dress for your selected activity.

Symposium participants are responsible for ground transportation from the Portland International Airport (PDX). Downtown Portland is approximately 10 miles (an estimated 30 minutes) from PDX.

Ground Transportation Options:

  • Blue Star Bus 503.925.5078 – $14 per person one-way from PDX to The Nines; $24 per person round trip
  • Broadway Cab 503.333.3333 – Estimated $40 from PDX to The Nines, plus gratuity & $0.50 per minute waiting time
  • Point to Point Car Service 503.282.0553 – $70 from PDX to The Nines (includes gratuity)
  • Uber also serves PDX and the Portland area


Symposium check-in will be available on the 6th floor at The Nines between 1 pm and 4:45 pm on Wednesday, April 27. After 4:45 pm, check-in will move to the Tiger Woods Center at Nike’s World Headquarters and will be available beginning at 5:30 pm.

For those who have registered for the tour of Nike World Headquarters in nearby Beaverton, shuttles will depart The Nines Hotel at 3:00 pm and every 10 minutes until 3:30 pm. Shuttle sign-ups will be available at event registration desk, which opens at 1:00 pm. Those participating in the Nike tour will remain on site for the opening reception, which begins at 5:30 pm.

For those who have not registered for the tour, transportation will be provided to Nike World Headquarters for the reception, presentation of the AWESOME Legendary Leadership Award, and dinner. Shuttles will depart from The Nines at 4:35 pm and 4:45 pm. Shuttle sign-ups will be available at event registration desk, which opens at 1:00 pm. Because of the uncertainty of travel time during high-traffic rush hour, you are encouraged to use the earlier option to ensure arrival at the beginning of the reception.

In case you arrive too late to take a shuttle to the Nike World Headquarters, Nike representatives will be available at the registration desk on the 6th floor of The Nines to assist with options for taxi service or assistance with directions and parking on the Nike campus.

Following dinner, shuttles will return to The Nines, beginning at approximately 8:30 pm, with the last shuttle departing at 9:00 pm.

Breakfast will be served at 7:00 am; Opening Remarks begin at 8:00 am.

Networking Reception at Nike Portland Store (5:30 pm – 7:00 pm)
The store is just steps away from The Nines. The reception will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and will include drinks and appetizers. Name badges are required for entry.

Dine-Arounds (Restaurant Reservations at 7:15 pm)
If you have registered for Dine-Arounds, you will receive your restaurant designation on your name badge when checking in to the Symposium. Nike hosts will coordinate departures from the reception so you and other members of your group will arrive for a 7:15 pm dinner reservation. If you prefer to arrange your own transportation, plan to arrive at your assigned restaurant by 7:15 pm. All of the dine-around restaurants are located in downtown Portland, some a short walking distance and others, a short taxi ride. Maps and information about distances will be provided.


If you registered for optional activities on April 29, transportation will be provided to and from the activities.

Participants in early morning activities will return to The Nines no later than 10:00 am, in time to participate in mid-day activities if you are registered.

Participants in the Winery Tour and Multnomah Falls trips will return to The Nines by 4:00 pm.
