Pat Mitchell, media industry leader and supporter of women’s empowerment, who gave an inspiring “Out in Front” talk at the 2017 AWESOME Symposium, has extended a special invitation for AWESOME leaders to apply to attend the TEDWomen Conference November 1-3 in New Orleans. Pat is one of the originators of TEDWomen, which started in 2010.

Described as “three days of ideas and connections,” the conference will include an optional tour of the city of New Orleans or workshop, a full day of speaker sessions, a global showcase of artisanal goods, intimate dinners, and late night music.

Based on this year’s theme of Bridges, TED Talks will be given by “entrepreneurs, innovators, artists and activists, thought leaders from business and civil society—bridge builders from around the world.”

In 2010, Pat approached TED Talks’ chief curator, Chris Anderson, with the idea of using the TED platform to highlight topics that matter to women. The first TEDWomen was launched later that year with more than 130 speakers and an audience of nearly 1,000 women and men.

The event has continued to grow, and Pat currently serves as TEDWomen Curator, Host and Executive Director.
