Honoring International Women’s Day as a time to reflect on the current state of women’s leadership, Kathy Wengel, Worldwide Vice President, Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain (JJSC) and an AWESOME Advisor, was interviewed in an online blog by Emma Gannon. Kathy has been a leader of successful initiatives to “ignite the power of ground-breaking women leaders,” both inside and outside Johnson & Johnson.

The interviewer asked Kathy to talk about the fact that women hold 43% of senior management positions at Johnson & Johnson. Kathy responded, “We believe women can be catalysts for creating healthier people, healthier communities and a healthier world. The growing number of senior women at our company means that at every stage of their career, female employees have role models, mentors and leaders to ignite their path and potential.”

She offered several examples of how J&J’s women leaders are having an impact: The dedicated resource group – Women’s Leadership & Inclusion – which has played an important role for more than two decades in developing female talent and J&J leaders’ involvement in the WiSTEM2D (Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing, and Design) initiative which is a global effort to encourage girls and women to be involved in STEM2D fields.

Kathy continued, “I am an Advisory Board member for AWESOME, a non-profit organization whose sole focus is advancing women’s leadership in Supply Chain across all industries, and to inspire and develop the next generation of leaders.”
