A recent article in the New York Times Magazine describes how a “confluence of political and economic factors has prompted Europe’s largest airplane manufacturer to place a factory in Alabama.”

As the article details, parts for the finished aircraft are brought in from Spain, Wales, France, Germany and other parts of the world and then assembled in Alabama – an example of how many of the world’s largest manufacturers “see advantages in completing the process in the markets where those products are sold.”
