— Alan Murry, editor of Fortune quoting Warren Bennis (author of the book On Becoming a Leader) in Fortune’s issue on “The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders.” Harvard professor and AWESOME Symposium speaker Rosabeth Moss Kanter was a member of the group of advisors who guided the selection.

Among the 50 leaders profiled in Fortune were 14 women. Of those, there were business leaders — including General Motor’s Mary Barra who held supply chain positions during her career at GM — philanthropists and leaders of humanitarian organizations, Social activists, government officials, a college basketball coach, and a pop star (Taylor Swift).
