AWESOME Reception – Sunday, September 15
The sixth annual AWESOME Reception to kick off the CSCMP Conference brought together AWESOME Leaders, AWESOME Scholars, CSCMP EDGE speakers, and other special guests. Many thanks to sponsor XPO Logistics.
Presentation of Distinguished Service Award to AWESOME Advisor Kathy Wengel – Monday, September 16
Kathy Wengel, EVP and Chief Global Supply Chain Officer for Johnson & Johnson, received the 2019 Distinguished Service Award (DSA) from CSCMP. Mary Long, Chair of the CSCMP Board of Directors and also an AWESOME Advisor, introduced Kathy at the DSA presentation.
In her acceptance remarks, Kathy said, “I am incredibly proud of the work all of us in CSCMP do to elevate this exciting, rewarding – and rapidly changing! – profession.”
In recounting the family history that gave her the courage and incentive to commit to a career in supply chain, she said, “Every one of us has a history and path that launches us, but it is up to us to find what we love to do and build our careers around that.” Read more of Kathy’s remarks
In her 30-year career at Johnson & Johnson, Kathy has held 13 different official jobs and only three existed before she took on that role. She said, ”Women can do anything, anytime, anywhere!”
Kathy becomes only the third woman in more than 40 years to be selected for the DSA. The two women to receive the award previously are Ann Drake, founder of AWESOME and Dr. Nancy Nix, AWESOME’s Executive Director Emeritus.
