Ann Drake, DSC Logistics CEO, was presented with the 2012 Distinguished Service Award by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) at the organization’s global conference in Atlanta. She is the first woman to be selected for the award in the 47 years since it was created. She accepted the award with remarks about past changes and future success factors that DC Velocity, a leading industry magazine, said “set the bar” for comments at the conference.

Following opening remarks by CSCMP President Rick Blasgen and presentation of the award by Keith Turner, immediate past chairman of the CSCMP board, Ms. Drake described transformational changes she has observed in the field of logistics and supply chain management over the past several decades. They include businesses realizing that their supply chain is critical to success, more women becoming involved in the field, and partnerships with customers becoming more strategic and collaborative. She also looked to the future, encouraging companies to expand their intellectual capital, embrace new technology, and look for new ways to collaborate up and down the supply chain.
