Many of today’s companies intend to increase diversity in their leadership ranks but aren’t sure how to do it. A story titled “How to Confront Gender Bias in Your Workplace” on Inc.com. suggests that the first step it to recognize it, as well as understanding how it’s hurting the company.
According to the article by Joelle K. Jay, Principal, Leadership Research Institute, “Discrimination has been shown to contribute to poor communication between staff, faulty decision-making, reduced productivity, decreased organizational citizenship behavior, reduced employee commitment, depleted motivation, and increased turnover.”
The author also outlines five points to be remember when recognizing and addressing gender bias in the workplace.
