To begin planning the symposium, the AWESOME group visited NIKE World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon – just outside of Portland – and found messages of inspiration and innovation throughout the 200-acre main campus. Called “a nine-year sensation” by co-founder Phil Knight, NIKE, Inc.’s CEO, has been selected to top the list of Fortune’s annual ranking of corporate “chieftans.” Parker has brought his long-time passion for the sport of running to all of his roles at NIKE. As a long-time runner, Parker was recruited by NIKE right out of college in 1979 to design running shoes. Continue reading
During an investor conference in October at its World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, Nike said it expects revenue in its woman’s category to rise from $5.7 billion to more than $11 billion in the next five years. An article in USA Today suggests the market for women’s athletic apparel is growing because women are “wearing workout clothes for exercise, as well as in the office, at happy hour gatherings and for running errands.” Continue reading
