New U.S. Technology Officer cites importance of leaders not allowing skills to lag

Megan Smith, an M.I.T-trained mechanical engineer and former Google executive, has become the first woman to act as the top technology advisor to the Obama administration. According to an article in the New York Times, Ms. Smith brings her Silicon Valley sensibility to the role and “cringes when she hears highly educated adults say how bad they are at science and math.” Continue reading

CSCMP announces dynamic speakers for 2015 Conference

Two well-known executives will play leading roles as speakers at the global conference of CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals) in San Diego on September 27-30. Howard Schultz, chairman, president and CEO of Starbucks, will be the keynote speaker. Dave Clark, SVP of Worldwide Operations and Customer Service, Amazon will be the major session speaker. Ann Drake receives global award from International Women’s Forum

Ann Drake, CEO of DSC Logistics and founder of AWESOME, is one of eight women who were presented with the 2014 Women Who Make a Difference Award at the International Women’s Forum (IWF) World Leadership Conference in October. The award is given to women who are recognized as exemplary role models for women’s progress and development, demonstrate a track record of outstanding achievements, are highly respected in their professional fields and are publicly recognized for contributions to the community. AWESOME Scholars share impressions from the CSCMP Conference

For the second year, AWESOME presented scholarships to university women and enabled them to attend the global conference of CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals). In 2013, two students received scholarships and in 2014, the number was increased to five. A requirement of the scholarship is that the scholars write an essay about the experience. The Supply Chain Quarterly, which is published in partnership with CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals), has named Toby Gooley as the new Editor.
