AWESOME Offers Optional Chicago Experiences – Symposium Day 3

Supply chain leaders who attend the AWESOME Symposium – June 10-12 in Chicago – will be able to choose from three optional activities that capture signature Chicago experiences. The choices, which will be offered during Symposium registration for an additional cost, include a cooking class, a walking food tour, and an architectural cruise along the Chicago River.
All three activities are scheduled for Friday, June 12, capacity for each is limited, and the cost is $95.

Bespoke Cooking Class
Bespoke, whose slogan is “Cooking is an art…we make it a party,” started as boutique catering company and evolved into specializing in interactive cooking parties.  AWESOME leaders who choose this option will have the opportunity to learn in a working commercial kitchen then enjoy the dishes they have prepared in the lofted dining room. The class will include preparation of six savory appetizers plus a dessert. Bespoke is located in Chicago’s West Loop and part of a vibrant strip known as “Restaurant Row,” lined with some of the city’s best eateries.
(The class runs from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm)

West Loop/Fulton Market Walking Food Tour
This activity offer participants a chance to sample signature dishes from some of the neighborhood’s most famous and interesting specialty food stores. Chicago Food Planet is the top-rated food & drink experience provider in Chicago. Expert guides will focus on highlighting history, architecture, restaurants, and delicious foods of this historic area. Starting with a sample of artisanal donuts in unusual flavors, the group will also visit four other locations. This tour will involve walking at a moderate pace, as well as several locations offering sit-down opportunities.
(The tour runs from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.)

Chicago Architecture Center Boat Cruise and Insider’s Gallery Tour
A cruise on the Chicago River will feature inspiring views of buildings that represent the city’s leading-edge architecture. A Chicago Architecture Center docent will share stories of Chicago’s growth from a small settlement into one the world’s largest cities in less than 100 years. Before boarding the boat, the tour will begin at the Center’s gallery where one of the favorite highlights is the interactive Chicago Model. The model shows more than 4,000 buildings and brings to life the story of Chicago’s rebirth after the Great Chicago Fire and its ever-changing skyline, featuring some of the world’s first skyscrapers. (Center visit and boat cruise run from 10 am to 12:30 pm.)

Participants should allow additional time for travel to and from any of the activities.
