Supply chain management has come a long way! Today’s global, cross-functional and inter-firm view of supply chains creates tremendous opportunity for women in senior leadership roles to have significant impact. The strategic imperative of meeting complex challenges requires the diverse perspectives and collaborative skills that women leaders can bring.
Yet surprisingly, there is still a “leadership gap.” Approximately 37% of college graduates in supply chain programs are women, yet less than 10% of senior supply chain leaders are women. The opportunities have never been greater for talented women to address this gap and advance their careers in supply chain. It is also absolutely critical, for the future of supply chain leadership, that we encourage and inspire emerging leaders by providing visible role models, as well as active support and advocacy.
Through AWESOME, we are creating a network of outstanding women leaders in supply chain roles – and providing the opportunity for those senior leaders to build strong connections with each other.
