According to an article in Fast Company, “the advice half of working women need to hear“ is that if they are having difficulty self-advocating, they should look for peer support from other women. The author, Ursula Mead, is the CEO of InHerSight, a company ratings platform that collects data points on women’s experiences at work and helps match women with companies.
In a survey of more than 1,000 women, InHerSight found that half of the respondents said they had never negotiated their salary. Other research has shown that women are more likely to undervalue themselves.
The author suggests that women use their network of other professional women to gain the confidence they need in salary negotiations.
