The addition of approximately 50 more AWESOME-eligible supply chain leaders over the past several months has raised the number of network members to 900 women.
The AWESOME network began accepting members in early 2013 after establishing criteria for identifying “senior level” leaders. By May of 2013, when the first AWESOME Symposium was hosted, the network had 200 members.
According to Ann Drake, “As we launched the AWESOME initiative to bring together the leading women in supply chain, we were surprised to find as many women as we did in leadership positions. They weren’t as visible as they could be, and as we expected, most didn’t know each other and didn’t have a way to connect. AWESOME has led the way in changing that.”
The membership has steadily grown since then through referrals from other supply chain leaders and self referral. Heather Sheehan, Director of Member Engagement and Sponsorships said, “We’d especially like to reach potential network members now so they can be involved in the upcoming Fifth Anniversary Symposium (May 3-5, 2017, in Chicago). We encourage anyone who meets the criteria – or knows someone who does — to contact us.”
