New REALITY CHECK places responsibility for advancing women on individuals AND companies

Volume Five of REALITY CHECK, containing new observations and insights on the topic of women’s supply chain leadership, has been released by AWESOME. How We Make Things Happen – Reaching New Levels of Leadership takes the next step in identifying factors that result in only 5% of top leadership roles in supply chain (CSCO’s, SVP’s, and EVPs) being performed by women.

“Our goal is to raise that percentage by highlighting what women leaders can do to advance their own careers and support other women in their careers – as well as the most effective actions companies can take to eliminate barriers and tap into women’s awesome potential,” said Dr. Nancy Nix, AWESOME Executive Director.

“One of the key findings in this report is that progress will only happen through the combined efforts of the companies, the champions of women’s leadership within those companies, and the women themselves,” she added.

Each of the five volumes of REALITY CHECK captures the “collective wisdom” of AWESOME’s signature annual Symposium, which brings together the leading women in supply chain, some of their most successful and enlightened male peers, and top executives in other fields.

AWESOME’s 2016 Symposium, which was hosted by NIKE, Inc., also featured a panel of “Women in Sport” who offered leadership lessons from their ground-breaking careers. View highlights of the Symposium

Also in 2016, AWESOME collaborated with Gartner Research on the first study designed to assess the current status of women leaders in supply chain and develop insights into initiatives that can improve their level of attraction, development, retention and advancement.

All five volumes of REALITY CHECK, with collective wisdom from AWESOME’s annual Symposiums and a CSCMP/AWESOME forum, are available for download. Printed copies will be distributed to persons attending powered by AWESOME’s sessions at the CSCMP Annual Conference September 25-28.

The AWESOME/Gartner study report is also available online or for download.
