Sandra MacQuillan, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Kimberly-Clark, is the author of an opinion piece published by CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply). The article, titled “Why I Love International Women’s Day,” focuses on the advances women are making in the supply chain profession as well as the work still needed to “encourage and empower women to stay and grow successful careers in supply chain.” Women, she writes, have an “edge” when it comes to emotional IQ, but need to be comfortable being themselves.
“The world of business is starting to embrace and appreciate the importance of emotional IQ in balance with IQ for successful leaders, and that ‘how’ is starting to be as important as ‘what’ in order to create sustainable improvements in performance and delivery.”
