Dr. Nancy Nix, AWESOME Executive Director AWESOME Executive Director, was quoted in article about “Tackling the Talent Shortage” written by Ronnie Garrett, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. Addressing the talents gap, caused in part by seasoned baby boomers being replaced by workers who lack the experience and skillsets, Nancy noted, “The skillset and capabilities required today are very different than those required in the past.”
Two other factors identified in the article as contributing to the talent gap are lack of emerging talent, with the pool of qualified professionals not keeping pace with demand, and the complexity of the supply chain, with customer demands and needs increasing.
Garrett also offered suggestions and the issue of SDCE provides a comprehensive list of college supply chain programs.
