Ted Talk highlights why gender equity is good for men, too

Michael Kimmel, author of “Angry White Men,” says in his Ted Talk that gender equality is the way for men to have the lives they want, too. He believes that young men want to be partners in life with someone and to share work and family responsibilities.

He also points out that two causes of resistance by men to gender equality are that “privilege is invisible” and men have a sense of entitlement that comes from “the history of the world.”

Kimmel first developed his interest in feminism and masculinity in college when he participated in a study group as the only man with 11 women.
